how to model a photodiode

Recommended Posts

Guest jrive

Hello,

I need to model the PD100Mx0mp series photodiode from Sharp (datasheet attached).

I understand the basics of what a photodiode looks like, but cannot find what I believe are the specifications of interest to properly model the device.

Can anyone help?

Thank you,

Jorge

Of course, you also need to add a current generator in parallel with the diode. Its value will emulate the photocurrent, and will be proportional to the luminous power density reaching the real life diode.

When you short circuit a real photodiode, you get this current out of it; when it works open circuited, you have a (self) forward biased diode.
